I've been a specialist in employment law since 1990. I learned the subject writing for the journal IDS Brief and then became the Head of Employment Law and Social Affairs for the CIA (that's the Chemical Industries Association).
From there I was an employment law consultant advising small and medium sized businesses and representing them at employment tribunals across the country. I then took that practical experience back to IDS where I ran their employment law training function and then became Head of IRS Training at LexisNexis.
Since setting up on my own I have provided training, commentary and analysis for large public sector organisations as well as a variety of private companies. I'm a consultant editor for XpertHR and have worked closely with the Government of Jersey, helping them introduce new laws on discrimination and maternity leave.
I have always believed that employment law should not just be left in the hands of lawyers. I try to help organisations build up their own expertise in this fast moving and fascinating subject so that they can make better decisions and take control of difficult workplace issues.
